To give you an idea of the goings on, one vendor will bring over 900 pounds of ribs for a days service at the 17th Annual Ribfest in Grand Haven at the VFW Post 2326 May 26th and 27th.  The fun gets underway on the 26th at 4p and the 27th at 11a with live music al day and night and the proceeds benefitting our area Veterans.

Michael Baauw is the head of the Muskegon County Department of Veterans Affairs and joins today to talk about this long running event.  While the party is in Grand Haven, the services extend to veterans all over our area and the help is needed.  The work that goes in to supporting our vets is extensive.  Anything from a Notary to transportation and medical assistance.  Help with mental health energy or food....the Muskegon County Department of Veterans Affairs is one of the states most active and engaged municipal services, driven by people who have served and truly understand the needs faced.

The Ribfest will feature Big Moe's, Bone Ends, Holy Smokers, Old Iron, Paisley Pig, Pork-N-Stein, Uncle Wayne's, OVK BBQ and Stable Inn.  They will not only be bringing the ribs, there going all in on signature sides and some other culinary surprises will most likely be on hand.  Plenty to wash it down by way of fizzy delights that foam up and music for all!!  Jaded 8 and Big Cadillac play on May 26th beginning at 6p and wrapping up at 12:30.  Saturday the 27th Todd Dunham gets things underway at 3p, The Perfect Storm plays at 6 and at 10p The Rocket Queen Guns and Roses Tribute brings it all home.

There's no cover charge to get in and the proceeds....they go to those who were willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.  How can that be beat?  Holiday weekend well spent and our thanks to Mike for the invite to help spread the word.
