For over 100 years now, the Muskegon Motorcycle Club has been promoting the sport of motorcycling and advocating for riders and their safety.  Along the way, they have also become one of Muskegon’s bigger organizations when it comes to charitable endeavors and community service.  Spending any time in and among the biker community, it’s a quick lesson in generosity and compassion, with cool tattoos and loud pipes.  We’re always happy to help spread the word when they get something going.  The 26th-28th of July is the National Pro Hillclimb!  Matt Luna joins to talk about the event.

The current President of the Muskegon Motorcycle Club, Matt Luna has been there and done it in the world of the sport of hillclimb.  Know as Matt “The Lunatic” Luna in his riding days, he got bit by the adrenaline bug in his 30’s of what it takes to send a rocket up a hill in about 5 seconds with the smell of nitro methane fuel everywhere and the almost ear piercing sound of the engines waiting for the flag to drop only builds the excitement in the crowd, which this year at Mt. Garfield will have a totally new and much more up close and in person view of the race.

The starting line has been moved back and some added challenges pop up right out of the gate.  You’ll see highlights in the video that the starting “box” is now build for spectators to surround and once the bikes launch, they have to navigate a couple of “whoops” before they actually hit the steep grade of Mt. Garfield.  All of the improvements and challenges are going to add a layer of excitement never seen before in Muskegon.  This is the year to return if you’ve not been a part of it in a while.

You can do the entire weekend, camping included for $50 each at the gate!  How do you beat that for 3 days out?  (hint….you don’t)  You can come of a single day too but the fun is in the entire weekend for most and with the option to pack up the trailer or camper and BYOB and food, it’s an affordable outing for anyone.  There will be plenty of supporting activities on site to keep you entertained and to support such an amazing and long standing organization in Muskegon that has done SO much good is the goal!

Save the date!!  July 26th-28!  Muskegon once again roars to life with the Muskegon Motorcycle Club National Pro Hillclimb at Mt. Garfield.
